Affiliate Marketing Success – What to Avoid by Earl Stringer

by: Earl Stringer

Over the past decade, affiliate marketing has become one of the most well known methods for making money online. One of the main reasons that affiliate marketing has become so popular is because of its simplicity and great earning potential. Affiliate marketing can be a very successful field to get into if you know what to do and what not to do when it comes to this ever growing opportunity for making money online. This article will go over five very important things that you as an affiliate marketer should avoid doing when getting started. Avoiding these things will help you get off to a profitable start with affiliate marketing.

In no particular order, here are five things that you should avoid doing as an affiliate marketer.

– You should avoid promoting products that have no demand. One of the keys to being a successful affiliate is, marketing products that people want. It is common for affiliate newbies to try marketing any and everything that they can find. You should only be selling things that people are looking for. You can figure out what people are looking for by doing a few simple searches using different types of keyword search tools that can be found by doing a Google search for “free keyword search tool”

– Stay away from promoting products with crappy sales pages. This is definitely an important thing to avoid because a crappy sales page will get you crappy results. You want to make sure that the sales page of whatever you are marketing is appealing. In many cases, the quality of the sales page is a good indicator of the quality of the product that you are selling. Put yourself in the customers shoes, ask yourself “if I seen this sales page, would I buy the product”?

– Not marketing your affiliate links enough. Even though the concept of affiliate marketing is fairly simple and some real money can be made, not getting your affiliate links out there can be the reason that your affiliate marketing attempts fail. Use as many ways as you possibly can think of to get your affiliate links out there. The more you market the better your results will be. Try thins such as youtube, myspace, posting on forums, myspace, setting up a few blogs. The possibilities are endless, you just have to put your mind to it.

– Do not promote to many products at once. This rule really is for affiliate marketing newbies. Start off by just marketing one or two things. The more products that you are trying to promote, means lesser time spent promoting each one. When getting started, you want to put as much time and effort getting consistent sales with a couple of your affiliate products before adding more to your stable.

– Avoid quitting. Many people get easily frustrated after doing a little work and seeing little or no results. Affiliate marketing does take a little time to learn and master, but the longer you do it the better you will become, so keep trying!

Small Business Marketing Tip: Conduct A Marketing Crusade by …

by: George Dodge

Let me ask you a question. The answer is to the question is critical to your business success.

Do you fully understand the real nature of the business you are in?

Your instant response is of course, I’m in the [put your industry name here] business. For example, you probably said, of course, I’m in the real estate business, or the plumbing business, or the printing business, etc.

But that is only partly correct if you are the owner of the business. As the business owner, the real nature of your business is marketing the business you are in.

You may have the greatest service or the best product in the world, but if no one knows about it, you will soon be out of business.

One method of increasing the exposure of your business to your potential customers, is to conduct a marketing crusade.

You can compare this marketing approach to a missionary’s work or the launching of a crusade because only the fervor and the determination of a missionary or crusader will assure your marketing success.

Missionaries are driven by more than just their desire to sell someone on buying their product or service. Rather, a missionary’s goal is to convert the world to their way of thinking, their mission and their crusade. Only through such a conversion process can you expect to receive not just a customer, but customers for life.

When your business launches a marketing mission, it takes a different approach than traditional marketing.

Traditional approaches are taken and set aside in favor of our missionary or crusader’s goal. In a traditional marketing effort, the real motivation for most marketing activity is just to make money. That’s nice to do, but that’s not all we need.

Every marketing effort, at this point, is tied directly back to its contribution to money coming in.

Now, as a missionary, your business goal becomes an effort to win your customer’s lifetime business and loyalty. If your business’ marketing activity is successful in changing the way your customers think about your business or products or services in such a way that the customer sees you as a vehicle to accomplish their goal and growth, then your goals and your growth will be a natural result.

As your business manages its sales growth properly, increased profit is going to follow. Immediate profits are nowhere near as important as long-term profits. To insure that you’re going to continue to profit for the long-term, your real objective is to convert your prospect into a customer who shares your vision of what you’re trying to accomplish and is a true believer.

Vision is a problem with the normal sales approach. There is no vision other than the short-term, which is to make the immediate sale. There is little or no real focus on back-end selling and the life time value of a customer, which we’ll talk more about later on.

What is your vision?

Is your business focused on an area of interest to your customers, prospects or clients?

Are you driven fervently by the need to help them or yourself?

Why should others patronize your business rather than any other business? Or not do anything at all?

What can you do that will not only cause your customers to return again and again, but cause them to tell others to buy your products and services as well?

Can you take that vision and incorporate it with a main sales and marketing thrust, advantage or Unique Selling Proposition and use that for an advantage over your competitors?

A good marketing crusade will integrate all this together and soon have customers coming to you as a result of what Dan Kennedy calls a Magnetic Marketing System. If you were Jiffy Lube, you might call it a well oiled marketing machine.

Sales: Align with your buyer’s objectives to close sales quickly by …

by: Peter Lawless

What is the most important reason that sales fail to close on time or even close at all? When you get a mismatch by sellers selling forward and buyers buying backwards! Sounds like double Dutch? Well this article discusses how to position your proposition in line with the prospect to make them an eager buyer.

Do you remember the last time you bought something that you were really looking forward to owning? What did it feel like when you finally got it, were you excited?

Good sales people arouse that level of excitement in ownership, with their customers. Was it a house or car, I bet you couldn’t wait to get hold of the keys!

For this example, I am going to assume that the purchase was for a house.

But a lot of things had to be done first. You had to make sure that you really wanted what you were going to get, you did your due diligence, after you had responded to some form of marketing communication. You made sure that what you were going to purchase met your needs.

Can you remember how the sales person helped you along the way?

Answered all of your questions and concerns.

Helped you come to the conclusion that you had made the right choice.

Helped you realise what was superior about your intended purchase over and above other things that you had considered along the way.

But before you took ownership, there were probably a number of things you needed to do. Here is a check list, and see if you can remember going through these stages;

You checked your time scales as to when you could move in, especially if this involved selling an existing house.

You budgeted for the purchase.

You organised finance if appropriate.

You checked out various insurances.

You sent a copy of the contract to your solicitor to check it out.

Your solicitor performed appropriate searches to ensure that the property was ok.

You finally signed a contract, and paid a deposit.

You then had to plan for moving in on a certain date – what is involved in this stage, is to numerous to detail here.

Finally you paid the balance, and got your keys.

So in all of those steps, let me ask you – how important was signing the contract?

Yet unfortunately most sales people focus on the contract signature or the close date. This is normally due to pressure from their bosses or indeed outside investors.

Sales people and business owners need to make quota. And in many cases their entire focus is on the close, the contract signature.

So they are selling forward to the contract signature. The buyer on the other hand is thinking about taking ownership. The contract is just a step backwards from that point in their mind.

So to be successful in selling, you must firmly align yourself to your client’s buying steps. Having done this, you should model the steps for success to create a sales process that all sales people in your company can follow.

If you need any help with this, please contact us, it is what we do all the time for SME business owners.

What’s A Freeture? by TPJaveton – ArticleCity.com

by: TPJaveton

One day in January 2009

Freetures Defined

You say “Enhancements”, I say Freetures! You say “Added Value”, I say Freetures! You say “Free Features” I say Freetures! No, this is not about gremlins, not about anything resembling gremlins or any other animal for that matter; but it is about value. An enhancement, though it does increase value in most cases can cost a buyer more. Added value means exactly as stated and can also be tacked on to the price of an item. Free features, the source from which freeture(s) originated are adornments and added benefits delivered with the purchase of a product or service at no extra charge/cost to the buyer, but I rather not repeat free features in rapid succession; thus the term “freetures”

For the purpose of this page, a freeture is defined as, “anything of value that is added to a product or service in order to enhance its attractiveness to a prospective purchaser without extra costs/fees to the purchaser”. Freetures are utilized on a daily basis in the sales and marketing profession to attract a larger portion of the buying public and gain better market share.

A good example of a freeture would be a printer which usually retails for $200 that is added to the purchase of a $1,250 desktop computer and delivered to the purchaser for a total price of $1,250. In this example the freetured value of the package would be $200.

It must be pointed out that any item which has traditionally been provided with a purchase at no extra cost, like a sipping straw with the purchase of a soft drink or a refrigerator with the purchase of a single family home – in most places – would not fit the description of a freeture.

In the example above, if the waitress/waiter poured an additional glass or half glass of the same soft drink for the patron without adding it to the tab, the extra portion would be considered a freeture; or if a second refrigerator of comparable value to the first one was delivered to the home purchaser at no additional cost, the second unit would fit our “freeture” definition.

There are many instances where a freeture has made the difference between sales and non-sales of products and services. From automobile showrooms to insurance and real estate agency sales offices, and retail outlets throughout the world, freetures are helping to create sales and the various markets are better off for it.

The internet market has traditional been one of the largest utilizers of freetures but did not identify the various product enhancements and added value features as such simply because the term as it is being used here had not been introduced in such a manner; but nevertheless it remains that, based on our definition, freetures are abundant throughout the internet market place. We’ll just have to find them.

Take websites, for example. Some websites cost money to build, and others don’t. How do we recognize when a freeture is being utilized by a web host provider? Or you may ask, is it the website that costs the money or is it the hosting of the website that you pay for and the website is the actual freeture used to sell the hosting? Since a website is almost useless without web hosting, maybe we should explore this needed resource in an effort to answer our website freeture question.

Here’s the suggested approach to searching web hosting companies for freetures. We’ll look at five companies that currently offer web hosting packages to website owners who are entering the internet market place.

We’ll compare what they offer with what we consider minimum website hosting requirements necessary to get a website up and running satisfactorily. We will then search for freetures in each of the web host’s packaging.

For the sake of clarity, we will look at only one hosting package per 72 to 96 hour interval because we must then identify what we believe to be specific freetures when compared to our minimum standards web hosting package as outlined in the following paragraph. It should be a lot fun. Join me!

Our basic web hosting package will fit the following description:

At a minimum, a web host package should include server space of 10 MB, CGI-BIN, Server Up-time of 99%, Three Email Accounts, FTP Access, Web-based Email, A User-friendly Control Panel, Free Scripts and an Interface to let website owners know their website statistics. These are the minimum requirements based upon our basic plan standards.

Although we will only look at one web host every 72 to 96 hours, the names of the five companies will be provided here in order to establish a degree of continuity and keep the exercise as simple and balanced as possible. The five companies are Globat, Host Gator, IPower, Lunar Pages and Think Host. Each one can be accessed from the “Freetures” page on this the author’s “Marketing Internet’s Niche Treasures” website or simply by doing a search of the names mentioned above. More Freetures available at the site mentioned above.

Basic Concepts Of MLM Marketing System by Anthony Harris

by: Anthony Harris

In the past two decades, we have seen that companies around the world have continuously prioritized product improvement and cost control. The goal is to provide high quality products while keeping production costs low. This business philosophy has ushered in new innovations in product distribution.

One of the growing distribution systems that have helped both the company offering the product and the independent distributor is MLM marketing system. Over 80 percent of direct selling companies now use the network marketing distribution scheme. MLM marketing system has surely made an impact in the way products are brought to end-users.

MLM marketing system is characteristically a direct selling method where distributors are compensated in both selling the company’s products and the business opportunity for customers becoming distributors as well. The distributors are independent contractors, so to speak, and not employees of the company; they function as the company’s customer base as well as sales and marketing arm for the products the company is offering.

MLM marketing system significantly cuts the distribution costs of a company. There is no more need for media advertising because word-of-mouth marketing is emphasized. Warehousing and handling costs for the products are also kept to a minimum because, more often than not, the independent distributors help in shouldering these costs.

As these fixed costs are minimized, the company is able to reallocate the budget to pay for commissions of multilevel marketing distributors; which are variable in nature. Overall, the company is able to cut down on logistical costs as a whole.

MLM marketing system revolves around three areas. Unlike in a basic direct selling system, these three factors are uniquely present in the many forms of MLM marketing systems. The following factors also make an MLM marketing system hugely profitable for millions of independent MLM marketing distributors.

Firstly, an MLM marketing system is a perfect model for leveraging. Distributors earn commissions not only from their personal sales but also from the sales of their downlines distributors they have recruited. Upon reaching a qualifying level, rank or sales volume, a distributor earns a percentage from the sales of downlines.

Leveraging enables ordinary people to start on equal footing with everyone within the system. However, distributors have the opportunity to surpass the income of the same people they started with, or even those who started ahead of them, by retailing and sponsoring others into their organization. Therefore, distributors can be catapulted to star ranks in the organization by having more people who can sell within their immediate group.

Secondly, MLM marketing systems make geometric growth in income potential possible. Imagine a distributor being able to recruit five downline distributors; then those five downlines are able to recruit another five downlines for each of them. On just the third level, the upline or pioneering distributor will have thirty independent sales and marketing arms from whom a percentage of sales can be earned without additional work done.

To be able to maximize the benefits of a network marketing compensation system, a distributor must commit to stay in the company for at least a year and, aside from effective sales, do personal recruiting and help recruits sponsor new recruits.

Lastly, MLM marketing systems provide a good source of residual income. MLM marketing distributors have the opportunity to earn residual income each time customers buy products and each time their downlines make sales as well. Maximizing repeat sales potential can make distributors wealthy, this time without even working.
